Finding Nowhere: My Favourite Way to Travel

I've spent years exploring the Cape, deserts, and the African wilderness, and for me, the best experiences often come from embracing the unknown. No rigid itineraries, no must-see checklists—just the open road and a sense of adventure.

The Joy of Getting Lost

There’s something special about waking up each morning with no fixed plan. No schedules to keep, no reservations to make, no fuss. Just grab your coffee, hit the road, and see where the day takes you.

Some of my most memorable moments in life—whether surfing, traveling, or on safari—have come from pulling over at a random spot, setting up a braai at a viewpoint, under a tree, in a cave, or on a cliff, and simply capturing the moment.

Unstructured Days

When you're not tied to a strict itinerary, you start to notice the little things: the way the light filters through the acacia trees, the sound of birdsong, and that sensation of time slowing down as the days feel longer. My senses become more attuned, and I connect to a deeper part of myself.

Leave room for:

  • Impromptu picnics and braais, wherever a spot calls you

  • Spontaneous coffee breaks at epic locations

  • Slow strolls through hidden villages or wherever you find yourself

  • Admiring beautiful vistas, untethered by time constraints

  • Plenty of time for stargazing and connecting with the night sky
